- Residents of Double Taxation Treaty (DTT) countries; and
- Tax-exempt beneficial owners.
Due to the nature of unlisted securities (for example, no official data source is available), no market practice is applicable for relief at source from withholding tax on income from unlisted equities in Japan and, as such, any relief at source will only be offered by Clearstream Banking on a case-by-case and "best efforts" basis.
If applicable, relief at source from withholding tax is available only if the appropriate documentation is submitted to Clearstream Banking. Customers will be informed in due time, via MT564 tax notification, of the requested tax certification, deadline etc., which may vary depending on the issuer.
A standard refund of withholding tax is not available through Clearstream Banking.
