Spain: Impact on standard reclaim procedure
Our Spanish depository BBVA has informed about the different measures adopted by Spanish Tax Authorities regarding the standard reclaim procedure:
- Madrid Tax Authorities: for the time being, there is NO extension of statutory deadline on tax reclaims where they are the competent authority.
- Bilbao Tax Authorities: the submission of tax reclaims to the said authorities has been suspended from 16 March 2020 to 1 June 2020, as it must be done in person
Customers are recommended to keep sending any standard reclaim following the current process as most of the tax reclaims must be submitted to Madrid Tax Authorities.
BBVA will keep the tax reclaims which have to be submitted to Bilbao Tax Authorities until the process is restored.
