This Market Taxation Guide (Ireland) provides the following details:

  • Reference information about all taxes applied at source, through CBL and its local depositories, to investment funds deposited in CBL; and
  • Instructions for obtaining relief at source or a refund of withholding tax, where these are available, through CBL.

IREF withholding tax

There may be IREF withholding tax of 20% withheld through CBL on investment funds held in CBL. Withholding-tax exemption may be available for certain unit holders, provided the relevant conditions are met. CBL does not provide assistance in this regard. Investment undertaking tax

No investment undertaking tax should apply to fund units held in CBL, as CBL should qualify as a recognised clearing system. Investment-undertaking tax may however be payable on specific income/gains. CBL does not provide assistance in this regard. Please consult your tax advisor for further information.

Capital gains tax

There is no capital gains tax withheld through CBL on investment funds held in CBL. Capital gains tax may however be payable on specific gains. CBL does not provide assistance in this regard. Please consult your tax advisor for further information.

Stamp duty

There is no stamp duty withheld through CBL on investment funds held in CBL. Stamp duty may however be payable on specific transactions. CBL does not provide assistance in this regard. Please consult your tax advisor for further information.
