Clearstream has broadened its global network to include the Australian domestic market by the acquisition of Ausmaq Limited in July 2019 - now renamed to Clearstream Australia Limited. The integration into the Vestima one-stop shop for funds will allow Clearstream to provide global players, such as custodian banks with both international and domestic services in the Australian market.
The move into the Australian market which currently ranks with fund assets under management of around EUR 1.75 trillion first in Asia Pacific and fourth globally allow Clearstream to not only connect Australia to our global market coverage, but it enables us to help support the local Australian domestic flows as well.
Australian domestic offering
Clearstream Australia is offering specialist custody of managed funds and term deposits for leading wrap platform providers as well as wealth managers in Australia. At present, over 1,500 managed funds worth around €37 billion in assets under custody and term deposits are available on the domestic Australia platform. The new setup of Clearstream Australia Ltd within our Investment Fund Services business will directly serve Australian customers within the same region and time zone.
International scope
Expanding into new geographical regions to capture more institutional flows is a key part of Clearstream’s Investment Fund Services strategy. International players active in the Australian market benefit from Clearstream’s global infrastructure and dedicated services to handle the link from the domestic Australian funds market back to the global markets.
Bringing automation and standardisation
By gaining direct access to Clearstream’s global fund processing network, Australian custodian banks, wrap platforms and wealth managers benefit from increased efficiency and international standards in fund processing.
