Swift has confirmed that the securities-related changes originally planned as part of Standards Release 2026 (SR2026) will be implemented on

12 June 2027

The revised implementation date follows Swift's decision to postpone the November 2026 release and reflects industry alignment across market infrastructures. The June 2027 implementation supports the broader industry roadmap and preparations for the move to T+1 settlement in Europe, the UK and Switzerland in October 2027.

Clearstream welcomes the confirmation of a single implementation date across the industry. The aligned timeline provides greater certainty for market participants, reduces implementation complexity and supports a coordinated, lower-risk migration.

Impact on clients

The securities-related message changes associated with SR2026, including settlement, asset servicing and tax, collateral, and banking messages, as well as the introduction of the SFT Gating Event Indicator for settlement instructions, will now become effective on 12 June 2027.

The revised timeline provides additional time for industry testing and client readiness activities while ensuring a coordinated implementation across market infrastructures.

The impacted messages include:

  • All MT messages, excluding Category 1;
  • ISO 20022 securities and funds messages;
  • Tracker messages; and
  • Exceptions and Investigations messages.

No immediate action is required from Clearstream clients at this stage.

Impact on TARGET Services

Following Swift's announcement, the European Central Bank (ECB) has confirmed that the planned November 2026 TARGET Services releases will proceed, with deployment postponed from 14 November 2026 to 28 November 2026.
To support the revised timeline, the ECB has implemented Change Request TR0188, allowing the continued use of the unstructured address format.

Clients connected to TARGET Services should continue their preparation and testing activities in line with ECB guidance.

Clearstream is currently assessing the impact of the revised Swift timeline on its implementation roadmap and release planning.
