U.S.A.: Clarification regarding the issuance of final Form 1042-S

26.03.2020

In accordance with Announcement A20026, Clearstream Banking would like to confirm to customers that, despite the ongoing global situation, the final version of Form 1042-S2 will be issued to the relevant recipients before 15 April 2020.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has published Notice 2020-18 and its related FAQs on its website. The notice:

  • Foresees a postponement of the due date to file some Federal income tax returns and to pay some Federal income taxes.
  • Does not foresee any extension of deadline for Clearstream Banking to file IRS form 1042-S with the IRS and the recipients of the U.S. taxable income.

Therefore, Clearstream Banking, acting as Qualified Intermediary, must comply with the due date to provide IRS Form 1042-s to the recipients which is set as 15 April 2020.
