Canada: Temporary suspension of withholding tax service for selected countries – Update

Following the recent information introduced by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) intending to enhance the documentation requirements for residents of Barbados, Guyana, Ireland, Malta, Singapore and United Kingdom,
Clearstream1 informs clients that, effective
immediately
the reduced tax rates are no longer suspended for the residents of Barbados, Guyana, Ireland, Malta, Singapore and United Kingdom.
The CRA has confirmed that it will not implement the previously announced new requirements.
Impact on clients
Beneficial owners that are residents of Barbados, Guyana, Ireland, Malta, Singapore and United Kingdom may again benefit from the relief at source and quick refund process (if eligible) that was in place for such residents prior the CRA announcement. No additional documentation requirements are applicable for these beneficiaries.
