Connectivity changes: TLS 1.1 to be disabled

Clearstream Banking¹ reminds customers that effective

it will disable TLS 1.1 on the Xact File Transfer server.

Clearstream Banking is continuously reviewing its Connectivity service offer to guarantee the highest security standards. To maintain these high standards, Clearstream Banking will disable the TLS 1.1 protocol on the Xact File Transfer server, as it is no longer considered secure. TLS 1.2 will remain enabled.

Impacted applications

Xact File Transfer formerly known as “CreationDirect”

No impact is expected for customers with standard configuration as recent file transfer clients already support TLS 1.2. The same is applicable to Xact File Transfer users if the TLS 1.2 protocol is enabled at client software level. After the deactivation of TLS 1.1, the system will automatically use the latest available protocol version.

Xact Web Portal

No disruption is expected for customers as all modern browsers support TLS 1.2.

CreationOnline

Customers who are still using CreationOnline may face technical issues as only Java 1.8 supports TLS 1.2. Therefore, it is recommended to migrate as soon as possible to Xact Web Portal to avoid any disruption. Migration and onboarding support is available as Clearstream Banking is still in the Xact rollout phase (CreationOnline will be decommissioned by 31 December 2021).

Testing

Xact Web Portal access and Xact File Transfer can both be tested in Clearstream Banking’s OCCT Environment as of Friday 15 May 2020 to avoid service disruption.
