Cross-border Payments and Reporting (CBPR+): Swift ISO 20022 Standards - Additional information
Reference
This version supersedes Announcements C25050 and C25059.
Further to Announcement C25050, Clearstream1 informs clients about the use of specific reference fields in ISO 20022 messages, effective
immediately
To improve the reconciliation matching and reporting of cash messages, Clearstream recommends that clients use the following fields to uniquely link a Notice to Receive message (camt.057) with the corresponding Payment:
- End-to-End ID
- UETR (Unique End-to-end Transaction Reference)
Following the CBPR+ ISO 20022 Roadmap, these fields will remain Optional until the end of the coexistence period in November 2028.
While the use of these fields is optional, Clearstream highly recommends clients to use a unique reference in the End-to-End ID or UETR fields to ensure Straight-Through Processing (STP) of their transactions. To achieve this, the reference in the Notice to Receive message (camt.057) must match the reference in the final payment (pacs.008, pacs.009), to allow the matching of both messages and ensure faster reconciliation settlement and credit of clients cash payments.
The use of “NONREF” as a reference should be avoided. Clearstream strongly recommends using a unique reference to ensure Straight-Through Processing (STP).
Important note: Clients who are already using these fields do not need to make any changes.
Testing and Support
Clients who started using these fields and wish to test the functionality in STP, should send an email to connect-test@clearstream.com for assistance to set up testing.
