Availability of Legal Entity Identifier
Clearstream Banking1 informs customers that effective
2 January 2018
the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) of institutions will be available for Clearstream Banking customers.
The identifier will be included in a monthly spreadsheet that will be published on our website and updated on the first business day of every month, starting January 2018. It will only be available for Premium users of the website.
This spreadsheet will list all Clearstream Banking and 6-series (CBFi) accounts and their respective LEI and Matching BIC, whenever available:
The new column headers will be:
- ACCOUNT_NUMBER
- ACCOUNT_NAME
- CITY_OF_OPERATIONS
- INSTITUTION_NAME
- LEI_OF_THE_INSTITUTION
- MATCHING_BIC
- MATCHING_BIC_NAME
Background
The European Central Securities Depositories Regulation (CSDR) requires CSD customers to provide their LEI to the CSD. Additionally, with the implementation of MiFID II/MIFIR requirements the LEI will become an essential attribute for regulatory reporting. Please refer to announcement A17163 for further information.
Customers will not be required to include LEI data in their settlement instructions.
