Romania: Equities will be linked to the network
Clearstream Banking1 would like to inform customers that effective
1 July 2020
Romanian equities denominated in the local currency Romanian Leu (RON) will become eligible for settlement and safekeeping through the Clearstream Banking system. BRD - Group Société Générale will act as a local depository for Clearstream Banking and will connect with the Depozitarul Central (CSD).
Romanian government bonds, municipal, and corporate bonds are already eligible in Clearstream Banking.
Impact on customers
Equities will follow the same settlement deadlines as corporate bonds, as detailed in the Market Link Guide - Romania.
Income on the equities is taxable. The tax service description will be published in a separate announcement.
Customers will be able to use the following services:
- Internal free of payment and against payment settlement in all settlement eligible currencies, including the Romanian Leu (RON).
- External free of payment and against payment settlement in Romanian Leu (RON).
- Custody and cash reconciliation.
- Asset servicing.
