Clearstream Banking1 would like to inform customers that effective

12 September 2016

the deposit procedure for physical securities will be improved as follows:

  • Entries of physical securities free of payment in Clearstream Banking will be handled according to the same standard as against payment entries, requiring an MT540 instruction from customers;
  • Once the securities have been received and checked by Citibank, the re-registration process will start and the customer’s account will be credited with the security reflected as a blocked position;
  • Upon completion of the re-registration the securities will be unblocked on the customer account.

Impact on customers

In order to ensure the straight through processing of the receipts of physical securities, customers must instruct their receipts, effective 12 September 2016, as follows:

  • Receipts must be instructed before sending the physical certificates and required documents to Citibank.
  • For receipt free of payment, an instruction via MT540 will have to be sent according to the below listed formats.
