Code allocation services
When CBL or LuxCSD initially accept a security, it is provided with an ISIN code, a common code and a Classification of Financial Instruments (CFI) code to permit its easy identification throughout its lifetime, in accordance with international standards. Clearstream acts as the numbering agency for international (XS) and Luxembourg (LU) ISIN codes. The CFI code allows the grouping of financial instruments in a consistent way throughout the industry in accordance with ISO rules.
While these codes can be requested by email for stand-alone securities, issuer agents can avail of the faster and more efficient European Pre-Issuance Messaging (EPIM) for designated money market instruments issued under programme. This messaging hub enables users to exchange standardised and secure issuance information electronically, and optimises the issuance process.
