Corporate responsibility

We act responsibly

Organising capital markets characterised by transparency, safety and integrity is not only the public service mission and core business of Clearstream as part of Deutsche Börse Group, but it is also our most important value contribution to society. We assume responsibility for the markets we organise, for our employees, the environment and society.

At Deutsche Börse Group ...

  • We adapted our climate targets in 2023 in line with current market standards to follow a long-term climate strategy, which comprises Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)-aligned near-term targets by 2030 and a net-zero target by 2045.
  • We provide our stakeholders with transparent and detailed information about our environmental performance in our annual GRI index.
  • We adopted a self-imposed, strict code of business conduct to promote transparency, integrity and accountability. We also introduced a Code of Conduct for Suppliers that includes environmental, social and sustainability criteria.
  • We are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and making Clearstream an even more diverse and inclusive workplace.

In addition, Clearstream focuses on making an impact with its corporate responsibility activities at our locations worldwide:

  • We are a member of Inspiring More Sustainability (IMS), a Luxembourg network committed to promoting corporate responsibility.
  • We are committed to gender equality as certified by the Positive Actions programme of the Ministry for Gender Equality and Diversity in Luxembourg.
  • We are involved in local environmental initiatives which promote a greener workplace; our involvement is driven by employee-led groups.
  • We support local charitable organisations via regular “Social Days” and the Clearstream Charity Committee, which enables our employees to raise funds to benefit local and international efforts dedicated to enriching and improving the lives of children around the world.

Culture

The promotion of art and culture lies at the heart of our role as a corporate citizen. We are sponsoring a number of cultural projects with a focus on Luxembourg, the location of our headquarters.

We are proud sponsors of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Academy, whose mission is to nurture the next generation of exceptional musical talent from around the world through intensive training at the Luxembourg Philharmonie.

We are also a partner to Mudam, the contemporary art museum of Luxembourg, an inspirational exhibitor and player in the Luxembourg artworld and beyond. Mudam is a site of wonder and encounter, providing spaces for experimentation and aiming to shape the future in all its diverse forms.

As part of Deutsche Börse Group, we are also proud to be associated with the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to collecting, exhibiting and promoting contemporary photography. The Foundation is responsible for the development and presentation of the Art Collection Deutsche Börse, an internationally renowned collection of contemporary photography. The Foundation shows several public exhibitions in its exhibition space in Eschborn near Frankfurt am Main. It supports young artists through awards, scholarships and the Talent programme of the Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam Foam. Together with the Photographers’ Gallery in London, it awards the renowned Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize every year. The Foundation also works on exhibitions with international museums and institutions and creates platforms for academic dialogue and research on photography.

In our global Clearstream offices, parts of the Art Collection are on permanent display as an integral part of our corporate culture. In addition, every two years, as part of the “Private Art Kirchberg” project, initiated by Clearstream in 2006, our art collection is exhibited and open to the public alongside collections from other Luxembourg-Kirchberg based institutions and organisations.
