Corporate Responsibility

We act responsibly

Organising capital markets characterised by transparency, safety and integrity is not only the public service mission and core business of Deutsche Börse Group, but it is also its most important value contribution to society. We assume responsibility for the markets we organise, for our employees, the environment and society. Our group-wide sustainability activities are consolidated by the corporate responsibility (CR) team as part of Global Public Affairs at Deutsche Börse Group.

Clearstream, Deutsche Börse Group’s post-trade services provider founded in Luxembourg in 1970, has an approach to CR: the company focuses its support primarily on Luxembourg, where it is headquartered. The operational hubs and representative offices of Clearstream at eight other locations worldwide continue to implement CR initiatives with support from Deutsche Börse Group.

Culture

Participation at the Private Art Kirchberg, an opportunity to discover  parts of the Art Collection Deutsche Börse.

In 1999, Deutsche Börse Group started to collect and promote contemporary photography. With the Art Collection Deutsche Börse, it has since compiled its internationally renowned Art Collection and built an extensive exhibition and educational exchange programme. In addition, it has supported numerous photography projects of other institutions as a patron or sponsor. As part of Deutsche Börse Group, Clearstream is also owning an art collection, which ranges from landscape and architectural works via interiors and urban settings through to portrait works. The Collection shows several works by individual artists to allow their visual idiom to be conveyed more accurately. The heart of the Collection consists of extensive series by students from the Bernd Becher master class of the Düsseldorf Art Academy. This focus has been expanded and supplemented by new purchases, and works by members of a younger generation stand alongside photographs that are today considered classics of the genre. The Collection is a living body and appears in ever new configurations, thanks to new acquisitions and rehanging of existing works.

Social affairs

Support of social initiatives such as the Social Day, where Clearstream employees perform social work for a day, and a total of 14 other, smaller local, regional and international charitable projects.

Our employees voluntarily support local charity organisations each year, helping communities by building, repairing, renovating or decorating social shelters. Beside this, we also donate large sums each year to charitable organisations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation, which helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Environment

Environmental protection is a high priority for Clearstream. The Square, where Clearstream is headquartered in Luxembourg, has been certified by Certivéa, the France-based organisation which promotes best practice and sustainability in buildings and the built environment.

Clearstream is proud of its Certivéa certification, as recognition of its commitment to sustainable development. For us it is important to provide an environmentally-friendly setting for our employees and to sustain environmental resources in Luxembourg and in the wider world.
