Greece: Additional strikes announced for 19 and 20 October 2011

Further to our marketflash M11020 dated 23 September 2011 informing customers of the Public sector employees’ union and the General Confederation of Greek Labour union 24 hour strikes on 5 and 19 October 2011, we have received more information.

The Public sector employees’ union and the General Confederation of Greek Labour union have extended the strike on 19 October 2011 by 24 hours to include the 20 October 2011.

In addition, the Bank Employees’ Labour Union has announced a 48 hour strike on 19 and 20 October 2011.

Despite the strike, Clearstream's local agent, Citibank Athens, and all market infrastructures are expected to be fully operational and staffed for business as usual.

However, settlement delays may occur.
