Greece: Short-selling ban further extended on certain listed equities

The Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) has decided to extend the suspension of short selling for the shares of financial institutions listed on the Athens Exchange to 31 July 2013.

This is further to our Marketflash M13005, dated 30 January 2013.

The short-selling ban will remain in place until 31 July 2013 for shares in the following credit institutions, which are part of the FTSE/ATHEX-CSE Banking Index:

ALPHA BANK A.E.
ATTICA BANK S.A.
BANK OF CYPRUS PUBLIC COMPANY LTD
CYPRUS POPULAR BANK PUBLIC CO LTD
EUROBANK ERGASIAS S.A.
NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE S.A.
PIRAEUS BANK S.A.

This decision of the HCMC, which has been approved by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), takes into account the conditions prevailing in the Greek capital market and the ongoing recapitalisation of the financial institutions.
